Other Texts: "24"
In the review of 'Prison Break' posted, the writer mentions another American series called '24'. This is also broadcasted by Fox and syndicated world wide.
Each season covers the events of a 24 hour period in the life of federal agent Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) as he tries to prevent one or more domestic terrorist attacks, set largely in Los Angeles. The show also follows Jack's colleagues at the Counter Terrorist Unit Los Angeles office, as well as the actions of the terrorists, a civilian family and typically an important political figure such as a senator or president.
Nothing pulls me to the edge of my seat like this show. "24" raises the bar for small screen suspense by breaking a few tried-and-true rules. Key elements here are brutal, intelligent and not easily coerced villains, a post-9/11 consciousness that plays out headline speculation with frightening surrealism and a nasty pension for un-heroically killing off what any other show would consider the "safe" characters.

Hello!
3 things you've done well

1) good SHEP analysis

2) excellent info found about Propps theory.

3)You've also put in criticism about propps theory, so you're looking at good and bad parts of it

Area for improvement:
put more up about the type of genre prison break is
;)

hey,
the things i liked about your blog is:
firstly the research you did on propp which quite useful to me
secondly you mention a thoerist "Viktor Shklovsky- like Propp (a Russian Formalist) split narrative structure into story and plot" which could also be quite relevent for my research
and finally the links you posted are good
to improve maybe you should add more pics

Similar to mine in its mentions of conforming to a certain quota or ideology......it great how you have the proppian theory on lock you seem know everything there is to know about it which is essential considering its importance in your title i also think your ability to recognise and apply similar texts such as '24' shows good knowledge of your chosen subject matter, you mentioned the hybrid genre of prison break maybe you could do some research of those seperate genres to gain a clearer understanding of the genre as a whole.

hey kav!!

well ur question can relate to mine in a way as propps theory is used in the film crash at different times and also does show role reversal taking place.

your shep analysis is great and so is your information on propp which is very useful for your question.

To improve research into the different hybrid genres of prison break if any and consider different represenations of characters in prison break which link to propps theory in more detail .
